What can I do to improve my chances of winning The Icon Prize?

Read the book.  Your work will be pertinent, resonant, and evocative
of the book's imagery.  There is no substitute for knowledge of this sort.

What criteria will the judges use in making their selection?

They will look for the work which best captures the characters, imagery or themes of the book.  Artists should familiarize themselves with the source work.

What kind of artist's statement are the administrators looking for?

One that demonstrates a knowledge of the specifics of the book and explains the ways in which your work is related to the text.

Where do I obtain the book?

It has been brought to our attention that third-party sellers are charging high prices for the novel on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online bookstores.  Please know that these sellers are not affiliated with The Icon Prize, the publisher or the author.  We recommend that artists download a free copy of Kindle software onto Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone, Blackberry or Android, and then order the reasonably priced ebook through their preferred device.  For details, go to www.Amazon.com.  We know that artists must budget carefully, and we will try to point out where the book is being sold at lesser cost for you.

For those who would like a hard copy of the book, The Icon Prize has a limited number of copies available to loan for the cost of shipping and handling.  Contact Catherine McFarlane at theiconprize(at)gmail(dot)com with your request.

You might also obtain the book through your public library.

Anything else?

Good luck to you!
